Request for Assistance: Unlinking My Steam Account from Inaccessible Rockstar Account
Hello everyone,

I am reaching out in the hope that Steam Support may be able to assist me with a rather frustrating situation.

I own Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam. Many years ago, I linked my Steam account to a Rockstar Social Club account. Unfortunately, that Rockstar account was tied to an email address (ineedaslugor2@gmail.com
) which I personally deleted long ago. Since the email no longer exists, I am unable to recover the Rockstar account or reset its password.

prove of that is in this screenshot: https://gyazo.com/3e039fe3bfcd43a900143346c62d8fe6

Recently, I wished to revisit Red Dead Redemption 2 on my new PC to experience the enhanced performance afforded by my updated hardware. Regrettably, upon attempting to launch the game via Steam, the Rockstar Launcher intercepts and insists on sending password recovery codes to the aforementioned, now-defunct email address. A screenshot of this prompt may be found here:

Whenever I attempt to launch the games from Steam, the Rockstar Launcher automatically tries to log me into this old account, but recovery codes are sent to the deleted email address — leaving me completely locked out.

I have contacted Rockstar Support about this issue several times, but they keep telling me they are unable to verify my ownership of the old Rockstar account linked to the deleted email address; despite me providing my purchase dates, screenshots of my Steam Library, and even my legal ID.

Since I cannot regain access to the Rockstar account, my request is simple: I would like Steam’s assistance in unlinking my Steam account from this inaccessible Rockstar account. That way, I could link it instead to a new Rockstar account under my current, valid email address that I use for steam, and finally be able to play the games I lawfully own once again.

For context:

Steam Account Name: donkcall

GTA V acquired: 21 July 2019

RDR2 acquired: 22 May 2020

Both are visible in my Steam Library.

I am more than happy to provide proof of purchase, account ownership, and any additional verification required.

I kindly ask for Steam’s guidance and assistance on how best to proceed. With the future release of GTA VI, I want to ensure I won’t encounter similar issues with new Rockstar titles purchased on Steam.

Thank you for your time.

They cannot unlink the account because they do not have access to Rockstar's database.

I hope that is not your real Steam account name since that info is confidential information.

Remove that from your OP.

Also Steam has no knowing of third-party sites "linking" your Steam account, that is completely on the third-party as mentioned.

Good luck anyway.

What is about 2 thread and multiple replies do you not understand? Linking is done on the other side. Steam support can't help you and will say the same thing. Contact Rockstar
