How to tell if a download is corrupted while still downloading
Downloading a really big game on a really weak internet connection. Its slated to take 48h+. Last night, the computer got shut down without manually pausing the download first.

Kinda worried that that might have caused some degree of file corruption.

Is there some kinda way to check mid download, would there be some kind of sign? It would be really unpleasant to have to do the entire download again after its done, but restarting it now would also add like half a day, and that seems extreme without some kinda sign its necessary.

And no, there is no way to get a better internet connection here. Shocked there even is one to begin with tbh.

Considering your options you're better to just let it finish. If there was some corrupted files, the client would just task the download server to get what's needed. It shouldn't start over from the beginning.
Thank you, thats really good to hear. This is gonna take long enough without throwing out yesterday.
During a normal shutdown steam would be forced to exit first, after safely stopping any downloads.
However it might not even remember where it left off, so it might have to do a quick check of the files that are already there, confirm that the pieces that you do have are correct and then grab the rest of the installer(Valve's install file format). There shouldn't be much to worry about unless the initial check to determine progress takes a long time.
Go visit a library or cafe just to get the download itself retrieved faster(minutes instead of days).
Then go home and you only have to worry when the game devs push out patches(usually not gigabytes).
