Steam “no longer starts”
Hey guys

I'm really desperate. As of today, Steam won't start for me anymore. According to Task Manager, it does start, see attachment, but it's nowhere to be seen, not even in the taskbar or in the mini icons.
I've tried everything, even with the help of ChatGpt. I even reinstalled Windows with my saved settings.
Nothing worked. I reinstalled Steam several times, but still no success. I even created a new local account, but that didn't help either.
The graphics card driver is also up to date.

According to ChatGpt, it could have something to do with “steamwebhelper.exe.”
I really don't know what to do anymore and, to be honest, I don't really want to completely reinstall Windows ;)

Thanks for your help

Use Windows 25H2

I really don't know what to do anymore

End all Steam processes in Task Manager, then run steam://open/main from the Run dialog. If that fails, delete the appcache folder, run Steam as administrator, and try compatibility mode for Windows 8. Also check if your antivirus is blocking steamwebhelper.exe.

Given that Steam has dropped all support for pre-10 version of Windows, how would this be applicable at all?

Sorry, typo.

When I do as you described, I get a window with the following message:

"No streamed game could be found for your account on the local network.

What does that mean?

Steam runs but doesn’t show end all Steam processes, disable antivirus, delete appcache, run as admin, and use Alt+Space to restore the hidden window.

you haven't mentioned what's going on with the app.

is it hanging, not responding, won't run or the window won't render or open and close?

could be an system file issue

could be a virus and won't let go of a resource while you work in the steam folder and play games.

have you tried to uninstall it cleanly with revo uninstaller?

I can see that “Steam Client WebHelper” (6), “Steam Client Service (32-bit), and ”Steam (32-bit)" are running in Task Manager.
There is no window or program icon in the lower right corner.
I just removed Steam with Revo Uninstaller and deleted everything that was listed.
I reinstalled Steam, but without success. The result is the same.
