Steam Market and Inventory completely blocked for 6 months – “Too many requests” but I’m not sending any!
Hey everyone,

For more than 6 months, both my Steam Market and Inventory functions have been completely unusable.
Every time I try to open them, I get this error:

“Sorry! An error was encountered while processing your request:
You've made too many requests recently. Please wait and try your request again later.”

The strange part is — I’m not making any requests at all.

I don’t use any browser extensions or scripts.

No VPN or proxy.

I only use the Steam Desktop App and iOS App.

My Steam Web API key is empty (no domain, nothing).

I even changed my password, reactivated Steam Guard, and removed all authorized devices.

I’ve contacted Steam Support five times, but every time they said:

“This issue is not on our side, and we cannot remove the limitation.”
and then closed the ticket without explanation.

At this point, I’m honestly out of ideas.
Has anyone here ever experienced the same “Too many requests” problem that lasted for months, and actually managed to fix it?
What exactly worked for you — new IP, reinstall, new account, or something else?

Any advice or shared experience would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance! 🙏

Try changing your IP address by connecting to a different network it may lift the restriction. Or on VPN, or just wait 10-5 minutes.

I know that this feature actually exists, but it often stops working as well. Is there any way to restore it and use it normally again?

changing your IP doesn’t help and the feature only works occasionally, then it’s likely a network-level or internal Steam rate limit. The only real fix is to wait it out the block usually lifts on its own, but it can take time. Making a new account is a last resort if nothing else works.

And this error doesn’t go away even if I wait 10–15 minutes. As I mentioned, it’s been the same situation for more than 6 months — day or night, no matter when I log in, the error always appears.

If waiting and changing networks doesn’t help, and Steam Support won’t lift the block your only option might be creating a new account.

The same issue occurs on my new account as well.

idk
They fixed the bug a while back where you'd search for something in the marketplace and it would say "an error occurred" and you'd have to keep searching until you found it. It was there for months. Now there's this bug, which has been there for about three months, and who knows when they'll fix it? This bug has been there ever since they launched the beta version of the new marketplace.
