Separate voice chat audio from game audio
I used to love playing multiplayer games online with a microphone on consoles but I have never been able to set up my pc audio in a way that is adequate for me.

I want to use a wireless headset for voice chat and have other players voices come through my headset also, while my game audio still comes from the tv, but it seems both have to come either from the tv at the same time, or from the headset at the same time. There must be a way around this?

Under "voice" in Steam settings I have my voice input and voice output set to my headset. But this is overridden by the Windows selected output device. It's very hard to hear someone speaking when the game audio is playing directly over it.

I just wanna play Helldivers and Ready or Not using my microphone. Simple right!?

For chat like discord, you set the audio output to your headset in the settings. Then in windows sound settings, you keep the game audio on your speakers or tv. It won't work that way in some games, so it's always best to use a separate chat app. If that doesn't work, there are programs like steelseries sonar to help set everything up, but that's more complicated.
