Can't get invited to steam game
So, I have been trying to play overcooked 2 with some friends but whenever they try to invite me instead of showing the normal steam game invite it just shows some kind of code like
[lobbyinvite appid="728880"and it goes on
Yesterday it worked, also I can invite them with no problem

Not game specific, though, unfortunately. I'm having this in Texas Chainsaw, Apex, and they had it in Uncooked 2. Completely different games with completely different devs.

Had the same issue all day today, there are 2 fixes I've seen discussed:

1) keep restarting Steam until it actually works

2) disable the Steam Beta

I kept restarting at first and it worked for CS2 but not for Black Ops 3; after my friend and I opted out of the beta, invites started working.. HOWEVER, lobby's were not working for BO3, we still couldn't join each other. It was only after he re-enabled the beta we could finally get into a lobby together. So in conclusion:

3) disable the Steam Beta by going to Steam > Settings > Interface > Client Beta Participation and select "No beta chosen," and if it still doesn't work, re-enable the beta and try again

Let me know if this works!

Thank you! Disabling the beta did the trick!

I have a workaround to this. This is a problem regarding the family beta client because once I selected No Beta Chosen I was able to invite my friend. This does not take you out of the family, If you select again the family beta you are still in the family group.
What you have to do is type this into your browser: steam://joinlobby/594650/[put your lobby id in here]. And replace [put your lobby id in here] for the lobby invite number from your friends invite and select open when it is prompted then you'll join the game.
Be quick because the invite expires fast.

Happens with the non family beta too, switching to non beta fixed it for me as well.

This will work but changing instead of "No beta chosen," you can choose "Steam Families Beta," which for me was previously "Steam Beta Update" and it will also fix the issues and let you keep steam families working. basically a roll back of the newest update
For many many months, shortly after steamclient was updated, every time I play Duke Nukem Forever, I can no longer invite my friends to play.
In fact, when I press the invite button, what you see in video here happens: https://youtu.be/APF6uxJJrgk .
In fact, before the client update,I would invite dozens of players at once, and everything was fine for everyone, but for about a year now, I've been unable to invite practically anyone because I can only invite one friend at a time. Because the window suddenly closes for no reason, and I have to reinvite one at a time, making it impossible to stay organized and even play a single game.
Over time, this bug has heavily damaged our Duke Nukem Forever community.
How can I solve this long-standing bug?
The problem persist in every other game: for example in Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour.
I can only invite one person, after which the Steam invite panel closes, quickly(for osme milliseconds) displaying the overlay menu, as in the video I previously uploaded to this support thread.
So, to invite a second player, I have to press the invite key again, and so on
