I only have that in one car game.
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_Xbox_One_impulse_triggers
As you can see, Starfield does not support them.
So is there a trick to getting it working?
I downloaded Mad Max which is on the list and it does not ever use the triggers as far as I can see.
But that is nothing i could recommend.
I disable rumble normally. It distracts from the game. The game which had this trigger rumble was not on steam btw.
So i know it exists, but it made no sense to me.
I tried disabling steam input on the game but still no impulse rumble.
I'm not even sure what actions cause the impulse motors to fire in Mad Max anyway.
Will probably just give up on this. Regular rumble works fine so it's not a big deal.
According to the website that posted above it does, that's why I was using it to test in the first place.
No, not that I could find a way to get it to work. Ended up buying a PS5 controller later which works great though.
I read your post again and you tried to use the Xbox controller on 2 games that don’t have rumble support according to the wiki but I own gears 5 on steam and it’s not working for me. I’m using the Xbox controller wirelessly and tried to turn steam input on and off. But I don’t notice anything
