Steam Deck power button not working to put system in sleep mode
Hey guys so i have an odd problem with my Deck and the fact that the power button doesnt make the system go to sleep, but the power button does work when i turn it back on and when i long press it it does shut down the system. Any reason why it doesnt make the system enter sleep mode?
Hi, did you have installed the Animation changer plugin?
If so, I think remove this plugin and delete "~/.config/AnimationChanger" and "~/.steam/root" then reboot your console will solve this problem.

Steam Deck seem to have own support ( remote device ) call it a pc i will not.
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/7DD4-C618-182E-0E49

and what can we do here then you have issue, i can say rebstart unit and thats about it.
steam here is seen as pc unit only and thats is MAC Linux and Windows i doubt steam will change this ever, we are not being rude, we try to tell you contact steam Deck support only.

You are being seen as a "Consol unit." made by Valve

As this thread is a month old, would be nice to know if the issue for OP still exists.

Steam client and deck development updates are quite frequent, so a change may have already fixed it ... but sometimes a reboot may already help if the device was constantly used with standby. if you regularly use a laptop this way and avoid updates, you may have encountered the same there, regardless of the operating system used ... even mac does this sometimes.

I personally just use standby for really short periods, otherwise I shutdown the system and the deck behaves as expected in my usecases. I run latest beta, OS and client.

One thing: long-press 5-6 secs is force-off, not a graceful shutdown as done via power -> shutdown. that should only be done if the device does no longer react on inputs. not just deck, every pc as it may cause data loss.

Hey sorry for the late reply, steam didnt notify me about this post, but im still having issues still even after restarting and using the force shutdown method too. This issue is super odd to me.

Did this get solved? I just started having the same issue. Weird.

Let me guess, you didn’t even bother to read the thread.

Why don’t you try the correct forum that has been linked a couple times in this thread instead of necro posting.

Worked perfectly!
If someone still has this issue and the fix didnt work. I just fixed it for me by, enabling the pin on startup and Hitting the powerbutton when he aks me for the Pin. It keeped working even when i disable the Pin

pin on startup did absolutely nothing for me, but removing ~/.steam/root/ fixed the issue.
