Steam news updates during full screen programs are not acceptable.
I was just playing a game of League of Legends when a steam news update popped up behind my game. When I clicked the area where the update was at my game minimized getting me killed in the process.

I do not care what is on sale when I'm IN a game already.
I do not care how many new invites I have while in a game already.
I do not care about anything else steam has to tell me while I'm in a game already.

As I said in my title, this is completely unacceptable. Steam should know when you're in a full screen program, even if it's a non-steam program. It just ruined my experience of another product by directly interfering with it.

Please please please fix it so that this does not happen again. Closing steam every time I play a non-steam product would be annoying as I have many games by Blizzard, and a few other games that don't play through steam or work well with the steam overlay. PLEASE fix this.

If you're running League of Legends through Steam as a non-Steam game in order to get the overlay, it's your own fault. If you're running Steam while running a concurrent programme, even if not through the overlay, it's still your own fault if there's a pop-up and a conflict.

What you're essentially asking for is that Real Player or Adobe or Apple or Microsoft tailor their notifications to realise that some third-party software is running. In other words, not going to happen.

More options on the View > Settings > Friends(tab) would be appreciated.
The BIG Steam announcement window is on the Interface tab at the bottom: "Notify me (with Steam instant messages) about additions or changes to my games, new releases, and upcoming releases."
Uncheck and you wont' see them again. Check it again and only stuff after you turned it back on would pop up. Unfortunately it doesn't care if you're in game or not. One more checkbox there would be appreciated.

You're apparently new to computers if you believe any of that. It's not hard at all for a program to suppress other programs while it's open.

Don't run League through Steam if that's what you're doing (which you shouldn't be doing anyway as notifications will block your minimap or other HUD elements).

I play League very often and leave Steam open. I don't get any of the Latest News pop-ups over my screen or anything from the bottom right. All I get is the message noise.

I'm not running it through steam, and that's the problem. It's still popping up steam news notices behind my game.

I didn't attack you, I simply stated facts man. If you took that as an attack, then you're taking it far too personal.

If youre not running it through Steam, Steam doesn't know you're in a game and will pop up news etc. whenever they become available. If anything, running it through Steam should prevent these as it would then know you are in a game!

You can turn the pop ups off completely via the steam>settings menu, but unless you want them gone forever, you'll have to turn it on and off as you play and stop.

And there is the problem. Running LoL through steam as a non-steam game causes direct issues in the game for me. I've tried it multiple time, and get the same result every time. Also I'm 99.9% certain they could program steam to know when you have another full screen program running, and not to throw up ads until you close it. Not just games run through steam it's self.

Steam knows a game is running by it's process id attached to steam, if there is an unsupported game and you are not running it through steam via adding it to the steam library as a non steam game there is no way steam is going to be able to detect it. Steam is not a virus scanner it does not browse through your ♥♥♥♥ looking for something other than what it is suppose to. If steam did this you would be getting false positives from steam all the time from various scanners as it would think it's intruding the ♥♥♥♥ out of your PC.

Telling someone they "must be new to computers" and then not knowing yourself makes you look even more arrogant then you show yourself to be.

Simple fix, turn steam off. You can't expect steam to know what you are doing at all times. To think otherwise is clearly the wrong path of any intrusive software.

Calling us "Steam Fanboys" isn't helping your cause or fixing your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem. Your complaint is not valid you are not using steam you are using a seperate product. I told you why it's not possible to have steam track what you are doing off of steam. If you want to ignore this simple fact and just ♥♥♥♥♥ some more, have at it. You are starting to look and act more like a troll with each post, everyone is giving you advice and alternatives to your problem yet you sit there with this attitude "It's not my problem". No, it is your problem.
