Halo 2 was the worst. I tried Halo and Halo 2 for the PC.
I could live with the graphics, but the rest made it a pain to play.
If I had an option to change the FOV, it probebly would have been fine.
There is also the fact that Microsoft wants to sell it's consoles. So by liniting their games to their platform they feel they stand a better chance of selling XBoxes. Ever since the XBox came out Microsoft hasn't made any game for the PC.
However, I remember Gearbox had something to do with Halo, and they also had something to do with Half-Life:Opposing Force. Perhaps they could make a full conversion Halo mod for Half-Life?(1 or 2)
So many different companies touched Halo though... Bungie, Gearbox, Microsoft, etc. so I'm unclear who has the rights to do any new development. (Maybe Nintendo could get in on the action?) Also the original version was on the PowerPC Macintoshes (first I think) so it ports well, just someone needs to get started.
Microsoft owns the rights to the Halo franchise. If someone wants Halo on Steam, they are the ones to talk to.
That is because they waited a year and a half or so to release it on PC. The mouse and keyboard controlls were slugish at too, but mostly it was the wait. By then Halo 2 was on the X-Box and anyone who wanted to play Halo had done so on the X-Box already.
