It usually requires another PC to at least stream from the primary, so cost and complexity for the avg person is higher as well.
Id go so far as to say that its a niche that is far better served by the consoles. I saw that Borderlands 4 actually has split screen coop, at least on PS5, not sure about PC. But if it doesnt support it on PC then Id say that is a perfect example of both what you are talking about and my response.
