ANYONE MAKING THE JUMP FOR W10 TO LINUX BEFORE IT DIES ??
Hey everyone

I just wanted to get your feedback on something. So Microsoft as you know is ending their support for Windows 10 at the end of October. I'm in a tight spot myself as my current setup is not up to specification for 11. I know there's ways around all those checks but:

1. ARE ANY OF YOU MAKING THE MOVE AND IF SO, WHAT DISTRO ARE YOU USING?

2. CAN YOU MAKE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR MYSELF WITH MY CURRENT SETUP (SPECS BELOW

3. HOW HAVE YOU FOUND WINDOWS 11??

4. ARE THERE ANY WORKAROUNDS IF I WANTED TO USE STEAM OS ON AN NVIDIA CARD

SPECS

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 3.60 GHz

Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.5 GB usable)

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8 GB)

System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Thanks for taking the time to read. Genuinely curious what people are thinking. I can't be the only one, surely! :majinbuu:

win 10 will work on steam for years still
You can still use Steam on Windows 10 after support for it ends.

I'm conscious of the security updates. I don't want to be logging in on a machine that isn't receiving those

Then update to Windows 11. The only person stopping you from doing so is yourself.

At some point games will not be made with win10 compatibility

Co pilot has only been a thing since early 2024. I don't know where you are going with this tbh

you gave up windows when you purchased a keyboard with a co pilot key

and then you dont know why you purchased a keyboard you dont want and that made you so mad you are giving up windows.

You can sign up for the extended updates program.

Appreciate the suggestion. I'm going to do that. Didn't know about it so that's very useful info. Hopefully they make some breakthroughs with nvidia support between now & then. I'll leave a link so people can check it out for themselves:
