Probably. I mean the way BNPL works is that the company forwards to full amount to the retailer and you pay the company back in instalments with interest many times.

Or they get a small commission from the retailer.

But m'dude. if you need a payment plan to afford it, you shouldn't be buying it.
I can easily see longer BNPL options not working for hardware on Steam.

That is not really new, but exists for years.

And no, if valve would activate that option it would go for every purchase (over a certain value), which would not really make sense in a Video Game Store.

PayPal pay in three works, which is payments over three months, I believe for twelve months you have to apply for PayPal credit.

It would still need to be approved by Valve for use on Steam though.

Pay in 4 seemed to work fine when the Deck released.

You make your first payment immediately, then the same payment method is charged for subsequent payments.

If the card has less money the payment fails

If you don't Pay, PayPal send round debt collectors like any other missed credit payment.

Refunds are processed the same way as any other refund,

Why would they implement this? At most a game should cost about 100 bucks. Although it's easily enforced, don't pay and they pull your license. It just doesn't make sense to have this system for video games.

But why does it makes sense for cars or electronics?

Yeah. that doesn't work very well... because again. what happens when *gasp* you just stop paying? This is actually a problem many BNPL providers are suffering now. Delinquencies are essentially destroying them .

As said. If you go to most stores what's happening is a payment partner forwards the full amount to the store and that payment partner either collects the money from you over time.

You are comparing $100 to $1000 plus. It isn't logical to take 12 months to pay off 100 bucks. Thats roughly $8.33 ish plus whatever fees they add. Its not financially reasonable for them. Let's say they make it an even $10 per month, they are making 20.04 off that which is nothing. Where as for products over 1000 they are making hundreds if not thousands.
And? I can pay 100 usd in 6 parts
Want money-allow payments in parts

They want and get money already. This idea has no merit for them. Would i like and use this feature? Of course! But it only benefits us.
