why does steam auto correct not work on windows 10???
works just fine on my windows 7 steam version
used my friends pc with fully updated steam and the auto correct feature no longer works.
tells you the correct spelling but you need to manually change it and remember what it said

Oh, I thought that was just a problem with my machine. Win10 also.
I wonder if WIn11, Mac or linux have this issue?

It worked fine until a week ago or so. Idk what's up.

Also, the Win 7 client does not receive updates. This is why it still works there.

It doesn't work on W11, nor does it work on Linux either.
It was broken in the beta and i guess it got pushed to the live stable build. Wonder how long Valve will take to fix it? :steamsad:

you can join us. harder and harder to get copy of windows 7 these days and its worth more and more

I have the original installation discs dating back to windows 95, even the windows vista installation discs, complete and unopened. A windows 7 iso is about as easy to obtain as a .nes rom.
Well that explains my problems.. ugh
The problem only started a few days ago for me, not sure if it is a Windows 10 thing or not. It is a pain to manually spell check.

you should try windows 7 since they are shutting down 10.
its great 👍
if you dont want to do theres some way to fake windows 7 so you can have a less bloatware steam launcher without all new updates and bugs

Def a Valve issue; I've got it on Debian 13.

All of the other info from other people on other OS's- add to the bug report thread Hotsauce linked. 'Cause a Valve dev may actually see it in passing there, and they are far less likely to bother scrolling threads here looking for bug reports made outside of the bug report subforum. It's a lousy bug report system Valve gave us for both Beta Client and Stable Client- but it's the one we have. The more people who comment that they are having the same issue and on what OS and which Client version- the more likely they are to see it is a widespread issue, not just a single person having the issue.
(And lol, thanks for linking it Hotsauce. :P)

I'm not using the beta branch. (so I'll have to agree that valve left us lousy solutions)

(honestly this, plus some other aspects of Steam, just hints some level of hubris.)
