No one is naive enough to believe this wasn't about the OP, particularly since you characterise their post as 'bizarre'. You literally said OP escaped from a 'loony bin' and while the whole 'pretending to be trans to farm points' thing is incredibly tiring, there's no credible pathway for this not to be a direct personal attack regarding OP's mental health.
But what I like most of all about this post is that this was your attempt to make yourself look sympathetic, I can only imagine how blatant the actual reply was.
Bans after bans after countless bans, with folks just going after eachother on these socio moral issues.
I don't get into any of it. I don't play "woke" games. They're not for me. I'm a historical shooter guy, sports and simulation games.
Not getting into all that business of arguing back and forth over those issues, saved me another 60 bans added to those i already have.
Moderation is awful enough than having to deal with all that business.
mods: ok
op: no you're wrong!!!!1!!
So you fell for the rage bait and resorted to slinging insults. Fair next.
Same, I don't play Western developed games these days. China and the east wins my gaming dollars since they strive to make entertaining products first, rather than to push some agenda. Also, America is not the center of the world. I am not an American, and I don't care about the American political nonsense and have no interest in media that shoves Americanisms down audience's throats.
*Especially* don't do it in a way that's asking for reports, because that's another goal of the griefers/trolls/farmers - they're looking to get upset replies that they can fake-report to get people banned.
It's the "omg, this is WOKE! Panic!" that is the "American political nonsense" (manufactured culture wars to keep people angry, afraid, and divided; has been a big part of the American right for decades now). So you do seem to care about it.
I care enough to the point where I don't want that political garbage in my games. Gaming is an escape. Shoving in a HR lecture or real world politics is immersion breaking, especially if it is in a setting which that kind of stuff makes no sense, such as a sword and sorcery game set in the middle ages. If I wanted to watch political pundits argue, I'd tune in to CNN or one of those 24 hour news outlets.
Except art, including books, movies, and video games have always been influenced by real world politics. The thing with culture war is it's not, "We don't want politics", it's "We want to censor whatever politics that aren't ours".
That might be what gaming means to you, but its certainly not what gaming means to everyone.
By the way, the evolution of 'gamers' over the last 20 years has been remarkable:
Gamers 20 years ago "Why aren't people treating games as art"
Gamers today "I saw a woman with a sword and it made me sad"
I don't think people get mad upon seeing a woman with a sword. You got stuff like Genshin and Stellar Blade selling well.
As for those that want that political "art," it seems to be a niche few. There is gonna be an audience for everything, but the size may not be big enough to be profitable. If a developer wants to be successful financially, they shouldn't be targeting a niche market, let alone alienating half of their potential customer base if they happen to be picking a political side, given how polarised things are today. Neutrality is a good thing, if you want mass market appeal.
