Forums basically moderated by "community managers" -- see "The Outer Worlds 2" among others
You see this frequently with games published by big corporations. It makes it seem as if the entire Steam platform is in the pocket of the big publishers.

The Outer Worlds 2 is being scrubbed and censored worse than what you get on War Thunder, which used to be the "gold standard" of forum gatekeeping.

Add to it the number of banned users seen throughout the threads. It's a bloodbath.

Very convincing "engagement." Proctored comments, oh my.

If they are using their own moderators they can moderate the forums as they see fit as this is how private forums work.
Game hubs are considered property of the developer, who can curate their hub how they see fit. Including removal of un-constructive culture warrior award bait nonsense.

Yeah, i had to open several tickets because of mentally ill community moderators too.
The best?
Each ban you get from a game's community discussion board is counted as a strike towards YOUR ENTIRE ACCOUNT.
Get 2 or 3 and steam will happily let you know that your account has now been knee capped and you have no access to invites to games, streaming, uploading anything to chat or otherwise and more.

Tbf, just one more reason why after 400 games and 18 years, i have completely stopped spending money on this platform.
Its going to sh-t so fast you can basically see the trail behind it as it burns up.

From announcing that you do not own anything you buy here to licking themselves up mastercard and visa's chocolate starfish waist deep... Valve is steadily and surely joining the count of utter trash companies out there.

You not understanding how things work is not a Valve problem, it's a you problem.

Since i just outlined how things work, i do understand how things work.
And customers having a problem with how things work, is a problem for any business.

You wrote 1 sentence, and it has about 5 logical errors in it.
Good job Timmy. Great post.

That system is in place to stop bots and trolls from cycling game hubs to spam, troll, and pick fights.

A lot of the time you actively have to try to stack multiple hub bans at the same time. Unless you do mindless "woke bad" brigading.

Also...

Game Mechanic

Community bans happen for every and any kind of spastic reasons.
Is there any particular reason why you are laser focused on "woke bad" brigading?
Asking cause its a bit counter productive to try to give a functional problem an ideological slant and i would appreciate it if you stopped with it.

Also:
Game mechanic updates every time you add anything to your library including gifts.
Unless ofc you assume i unlocked 471 games 3 days ago and bought myself an 18 year service badge with it.

Because a majority of the posters who come here complaining about forum censorship in new game hubs, often partake of it.

It's a common cycle. New game drops, people go making bait topics about "woke", etc etc etc. Devs get tired of the spam, show them the door. Then they come here crying they were unfairly censored. Hell, seems to be enough of a problem they made a megathread to move all the spam there.

One common correlation is a majority of them are also in the DEID steam group, take that however you'd like.

Regardless..kinda need to work to stack hub bans for the most part. And I say this with two permanent hubs bans myself, who didn't get community banned for it.

When Avowed came out, the forums were flooded with trolls from Asmongold's Youtube channel and places like 4chan who spammed it with troll threads and anti-woke nonsense 24/7. I actually liked the game and tried to counter their lies, for which I was rewarded with a ban for "being insulting" while they suffered no repercussions. It was at that point I lost faith in Steam forums and their moderators. At this point I think they are moderated by bots looking at keywords, not humans, because that would just be too sad.
Forums basically moderated by "community managers"

This is like saying "school classes are basically taught by teachers". "Community manager" is what we call the kind of person who manages a community. One of their responsibilities is moderating.

I got banned on resident evil 4 forums for making a joke about Ada Wong, if I’m not mistaken. And also at Dead by Daylight. That forum is just a joke. They’ll ban you for anything. Some of the moderators have nothing to do, apparently, so they’ll actually try to seek out your comments to ban you.

It’s pathetic when you think about it, but that’s what some people like – meaningless power fantasies.
doom eternal this happens where a moderator all out stonewalls users with abusive harassment.
till they slip up.

He's not talking to Bethesda and it isn't Bethesda that's moderating him.

He's been talking to another player on multiple DOOM hubs and Steam Support have repeatedly banned him for slander, harassment and other nonsense like that.

We're talking probably half a dozen bans in the last month alone.

I'm pretty sure your biased self serving interpretations is concrete evidence you're clueless, otherwise you wouldn't need to rely on them exlusively.

Valve's fine with one less bad customer. Cheers! :KentHappy:
