Is there any recourse if you feel the mods of a forum are biased and targeting you?
Say you get into a discussion that gets a bit heated, yet the people who were repeatedly baiting, trolling and insulting you get no repercussions. Meanwhile if you say anything back you are banned for "insults" or some such. Additionally, the mods give no reply when asked about this.

Is there a way to appeal / get someone else to look at this? Or do mods simply have absolute power in their respective forums to do as they please?

yea, that's exactly why i stopped posting in any forums moderated by cdpr (witcher, cyberpunk, etc), and no, there's no recourse, dev appointed mods can "moderate" however they want

You take it up with the devs. They appoint their mods. Valve let's devs moderate their hub as they see fit and will not step in.

If it's a game forum, you purchased the game, and you were arguing a valid point related to the game, then there are always reviews. Otherwise you have no ground to stand on anyway.

I also found their forums unusable, most of their moderators seem like political activists now which is hilarious considering how far the companies quality levels fell between witcher 3 and cyberwoke. The blood of dawnwalker looks really good though.

If it was a hub moderator, contact the developer. If it was Steam Moderator, contact support (there should be a link in the ban message). If it was game developer or Steam Support, you pray to the god (the authority above them).

Valve has given the game developers right to moderate their own game hubs as they see fit and will not interfere unless it's totally unhinged case like Domina. Even then it took months for Valve to act for the first time.

If you have problem how a forum is moderated, it's much easier to just stop using that forum or hub entirely rather than trying to fight it.
