Controller settings: Naming and Assigning?
Let me tell you a bit of my weird set-up when it comes to first-person shooting/clicking games.

In my left hand: XBox Adaptive Joystick[www.xbox.com].
I was never comfortable gaming with keyboard, crooking my wrist, sprawling my fingers over the keys etc. I've always prefer gaming controllers, especially given the analogue-stick feels more responsive than WASD-keys. And with the x5 button for jump and x6 button for crouching, I feel i can move more efficiently.

In my right hand: 6-button Gaming Mouse.
Despite my gripe over keyboard and preference to controllers, when it comes to first-person view games, mouse is best! Using right analogue-stick just doesn't compare to it at all. It allows me to be just as responsive as expected of mouse gameplay.

So, my question is, when it comes to Controller Settings where you can remap and assign button functions:
  • Even if Steam does not recognise the controller (it thinks it's a standard XBox controller), can I assign control-schemes to various controllers, so it won't get confused if I did play with a separate XBox controller?
  • Can I title my custom-input control schemes? Such as naming it "My Joystick Setup" or something like that?

Well using the Steam Interface for whatever reason using their "GamePad" settings for me don't work.

I used the WASD settings, and that tends to bind these shooters for me pretty good. B to crouch, and LT to aim, and RT to shoot stuff like that.

And access to the mouse at the menus with the RT joystick.

But what seems to be different is that as compared to playing on console, i have to bind every button. And so B to crouch, and say Y to stand back up, and press in the Left joystick to go prone.

If a game does not have Controller Support that's generally what i have to do.

You can set up your controller as you wish, name it, and Upload it as your settings, and even for others to use. And yes each game has its own settings. One does not seem to carry to another.

How do I name it? I can't seem to find the option for it.
