How do I keep playing a game?
I find it very difficult to keep my interest in a game. Not because the games are bad, but something in my brain just loses interest after x amount of hours played. It happens to almost all games I play, but sometimes it doesn't. I remember playing through the entirety of RDR2 last year, over the course of 2 months I played everyday and enjoyed it thoroughly. The same happened with Terraria a couple years back. But recently I picked up The Witcher 3, played it for some 10 hours over a week, and for some reason couldn't keep playing. I don't understand why, because the game is amazing, every time I played I felt so immersed in the world and characters, the graphics and everything was breathtaking but somehow I find it hard to boot up the game now.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Same here. I try and cycle what I do. One night ill play a game, the next I'll watch anime, the next I'll play on my phone, another I'll read, and just rotate them. No genuine schedule but if I don't feel like gaming I'll occupy myself with somthing else.
Yep same here. I have almost 3k games in my library but I only play one of them regularly, it's such a waste. I try other games all the time but lose interest after 2 hours or so. And yes, I am also an old fart.

Life happens. People change. You are no different.

In my case I find myself sticking to games like Persona 5 Royal and before. It isn't that I find the games after that bad.

I just don't trust some of them made after Joe Biden was elected and Woke/D.E.I. was given the green light and starting infecting the game development of certain developers.

Before some take offense to that I have played RPGs that have same sex and bisexual relationships in them. The difference with those games were that it was a choice ... not forced on the player from the beginning. Now there are games where it is a part of the game itself. That is not acceptable to me, and so I voted with my wallet.

As for how I keep playing games that is my entertainment ... along with anime and music. I don't care for doing many things I used to do when I was younger.

Although in fairness there are some bands coming back that I'd go and see in concert again. That's another story, however, for another topic.
DOn't force it m8. MAybe you're just not really in the mood for that sort of experience. Try something else.
its because the games are bad for some reason. they are underwhelming and you dont have alot of time for it or its just plain bad.

i have like 3 rpgs that take like 100 hours minimum to play start to finish if you know what your doing. the entire reason i put it off is because i dont have time and yes they are underwhelming. i didnt understand how much i played pvp until triple a decided to commit suicide.

It’s not controversial to point out how much racist DEI hiring practices have contributed to the competency crisis, most normal people are disgusted by racism and leftist ideology and it’s why the pendulum swung back so hard against that kind of hatred and division.
That's totally me. I currently have 9 games installed through Steam which I only played for a couple of hours and then stopped, and instead of resuming those games I find myself installing new ones and repeting the process. I also have games installed in the Epic store, Xbox app, Ubisoft and EA app that are waiting for me to either resume or uninstall. I believe it is pathological LOL.
I don't have much time for the likes of open world games now. Sometimes they feel a chore, exhausting to play and require too much energy after a long day. Gaming is supposed to be relaxing so things like this are counter-productive to unwind.

I've found myself engaging far better with titles that are around 10-15 hours long and can be completed in a week. Games from the Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid series's are ideal and then there's the likes of Max Payne and early Mafia games which are also great experiences. Some older titles that don't have as much modern bloat are also a good option.

Sometimes the prospect of playing a grand title can actually be demoralising regardless of how good the game is. I find the likes of the newer Assassin's Creed games really draining because after 10 hours, I've seen all the game has to offer and can't envisage playing another 60+ hours to get to the end.

Give it a thumb-down for being boring or whatever you think is appropriate, and move on.
Just hook yourself up to digital dopamine like Toxikk or something.
My advice is to shorten your playtime and do not focus on a single game, put some daily objectives in a game, try to accomplish and then close it and do something else or play another thing.

No it isn’t boring at all, when I manage to actually play it, it’s a really good game. It’s just that I struggle to press the play button in the steam library.
For me(my opinion) it's not a age reason but experience; when we was young there are all new amazing and different games with different gameplay, nowdays you play 1 and it's as you play 100. They are all the same and more oriented to kid intelligence. Some time is released a good game but are rare in these years. I don't talk about multiplayer cos all cheating and it's not fun anymore.
