It seems testing is already being done, to integrate these two great systems into the new Xbox, which is rumored to be a "Steam Machine" type of model.

Generally, a PC that has access to Steam, GoG, Epic and more. All from the comfort of our couch.

However access can come as soon as current generations Series X/S.

Mr Newell, i welcome this partnership with Uncle Phil, and to bring us the best gaming experiences of our lifetimes.

Fingers crossed.

Sincerely, your Pal, and Console/PC Gamer,

Ranger :steamhappy:

Many may not have a gaming PC to do that. That's why they're on console.

With this integration, they can likely now experience Steam, and PC exclusive games without the need for a gaming PC.

It's a win win for Steam, who will now have access those millions of Xbox users (i think we can say Steam numbers are again going to bubble as it did with Steam Deck), and a win for Xbox who wants to sell machines.

The xbox can't play pc games it can only stream them from a server or from a local pc

I wouldn't put too much weight into it. I doubt it will be Microsoft Steam machine. It's more like Microsoft intends their next Xbox to be a more open platform. I would guess it's a strategy to offload server costs to the other platforms. Microsoft provides the user with a console and leaves the supply chain to everyone else.

I'm sure some will find a benefit from it. But it's no different than what anyone can do now with their PC. Just hook it up to the TV and have Steam auto launch into BPM. Sit on the couch with the controller and start gaming.

Guess the next Xbox will be more of gaming appliance.

It's probably going to use Xcloud or GeForce Now.

You do not need a gaming pc to connect it to a tv.......and for game streaming you do not need a gaming pc....or a pc at all.

Either is a win for Valve.

It is no doubt. It's a win for both imo.
I hope that this integration doesn't use cloud gaming or stuff like that.

But not everyone would be bothered into fixing a high end gaming PC to casually play a game on the weekends. For me that i am over 40 it would be a huge thing that i can plug in the TV and access all my Steam library. Today i have to spend time on upgrading my high end PC that once was fun but between work, family and life it has become a chore than a pleasure. And dont tell me about streaming apps, i cant play Hades with 3000ms latency. And no a 10 meter HDMI cable would not work either because then i would have to be playing with a 10m USB cable too for the controller (since the case is in my office). So yes please, make a next gen XBOX with Steam access. I and probably every single 30+ gamer would gladly pay 1000 USD for it. Thanks.
