Is that really the only option?
As of now.
Yikes. I don’t even have a local bank anymore. I have three different bank accounts and all of their branches have closed. I’ll have to google where my ‘local’ branch is.
Unless they’ll allow me to apply online?

Valve went with the credit card option because they already have the payment processing in place.
I have mine on my Google Wallet and leave the card at home. Every time I do a Contact payment using Google Wallet it goes my Credit Card. I use it for food, fuel and anything else. I then pay it off the moment I'm back at home so never had to pay interest.
You also get better protection when using a credit card compared to a Debit card
I think they got a lot to deal with now in a short time may take a time
Alternatively, Valve blocks age restricted accounts from redeeming keys for adult games. After all you have to be logged in, and Valve will know what the key is for.
After all, I don't think your five second plan fixed the lack of age verification options for Germany. So what's plan B?
