I seem to remember that there's some general problem with PayPal affecting all countries with "obscure" currencies, so this might not even be Steams own decision.

AMEX, I don't know. Maybe they are just too expensive to support, so Steam decided to not do it.

American Express has always cost the stores much higher fees than Visa and Mastercard. So it makes perfect sense not to accept that card to avoid increasing prices for all customers.

Steam doesn't accept Danish currency either. So I use a credit card and pays in euros. It isn't an issue at all.

You do know that Visa and Mastercard guarantee the store that the amount you buy for must be available on the card allowing for the store to collect it risk free within 7 days? Amex is still a payment option for some regions. I still use mine on Steam. There was a reason it was dropped for other regions but I don't recall exactly what it was.

Same for PayPal. The availability to use either on Steam was dictated more by the payment services than Steam.
