People can visit your profile and give you awards directly.
This is common if you have a well-designed profile, rare achievements, or a creative bio.
How to increase chances:
Make an attractive profile (animated background, nice artwork showcase, unique theme).
Engage with the community so people see your profile.
2. Receive Awards on Community Content
You can post content in several areas and if others like it, they may award it:
Screenshots: Post beautiful, funny, or rare in-game moments.
Artwork: Animated or high-quality images (anime art, memes, or creative designs are popular).
Reviews: Funny or informative reviews often get many awards.
Guides: Helpful or unique guides (especially for popular games) get awarded.
Videos: Less common, but still possible.
3. Get Awards on Steam Discussions
Start a discussion thread in a popular game or the general Steam forums.
If your thread is funny, thought-provoking, or helpful, people may award it.
4. Receive Awards on Comments
If you leave clever, funny, or kind comments on other people’s profiles or artwork, they can award your comment.
5. Seasonal Events (Steam Sales & Festivals)
During Steam Summer Sale, Winter Sale, or The Steam Awards voting, there’s often a huge increase in awards because people get bonus Steam Points or are more active.
Some events give free Steam Points (from buying games, redeeming keys, or activity) that others may use to give awards.
6. Collaborations & Friend Networks
Friends may exchange awards with each other (especially in tight communities, Discord groups, or trading circles).
Some people gift awards as thanks for trades, help, or community contributions.
7. Rare: Virality & External Attention
If your content goes viral (Reddit, Twitter, TikTok, etc.) and links to your Steam content, you may get a surge of awards.
No events give free points.
You also do not get points for activating game keys.
The event part may not be true, but I am not sure.
you dont get points from activating keys. go look at your point history, it shows you when you received points and why you received them.
you either spend money to get points or someone gives you an award. steam does not get money from game keys, those are given for free to the game developers to sell so steam never sees any money nor knows how much a key was sold for.
Go to Hollow Knight SilkSong forums and announce you're giving away 200 copies to people who give you awards..
Still can't believe people fell for that.
No you didn't.
No you can not.
at least that seems to be how a lot of people like to farm awards.
