Scam attempt.

I just had a very surreal moment with a random user messaging about reporting me for some failed trade. This led to a chat with 'Steam Support'. Thankfully I realised what was going on but oh boy they were quite convincing.

I just wanna find out which forum I can post about this on, or how best to approach the true Steam Support?

Report their profile and block them.

Thanks will do. I'm still a little stunned tbh. They caught me mid-beer and nearly got me.

I have both their names and shall be having fun with them tomorrow.

Report on there profile page under the "More" tab.

Block them

Move on.

There are no valve / steam employees or staff, server techs, steam support, or moderators in this steam related sub-forum. No one in this USER - USER only sub-forum can help you.

Thanks again. I have done so.

Only one of them I friended and reported on. The initial one messaged without adding and I lost them when I restarted Steam with a password change uh. But I have screenies and determination on my side heh.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly sure Steam Support will never contact you directly unless you manually open a ticket with them.

But 100% block and report people like this.

Yeah I have no contact with Steam Support so wouldn't know what to expect. I just a had concerned user with a screenie of a report upon my account, with an avatar linked to a friend code he supplied. I rolled with it until the mention of Discord then I knew.

Thanks for the info and responses. I have learned a lesson and hope others will see this and be wary.
