Poland - the most expensive games on Steam
Hello,

At this point, as probably everyone knows, Poland is one of the most expensive regions to buy games on Steam. Why has nobody ever updated these prices based on wages, living standards, and cost of living here? Games are absurdly expensive here, and I don't see any reason why we should be paying more than our western neighbors like Germany, or even further, such as the USA, an economic powerhouse compared to Poland. Someone at Valve really needs to take a look at this, because it can't go on like this.

Prices are so high here that I stopped buying games at launch and wait a long time after release until the price finally becomes reasonable. As someone who invests for a living and also loves playing games, I have to say it honestly gives me a headache xD Games should cost significantly less, and I assume I'm not the only person who has stopped buying new games because their prices are just one big misunderstanding.

It falls on the game devs to charge the prices they want and most use the default steam suggestions as the last time steam updated this was during a time that Polands currency was at a very low value.

Until steam updates their suggested prices you need to inform the game devs as some have updated their prices to reflect that.

It sounds a bit pointless to inform every developer one by one, when Steam could just solve this problem globally. But you're right anyway, that's just how it works.

Fact of the matter is, Steam isn't legally allowed to change a game's price. Devs need to do so.

Steam should act preventively so that games are cheaper in the future, because what we have right now is rather impossible to fix with little effort. However, they could take action with the future in mind and provide game developers with prices more adequate to the financial situation of people in Poland.

Publishers are responsible for the prices of their games. Valve does not tell them what to charge.

That's sound advice regardless of regional differences. They want you to pay the higher launch price. And those prices are only go higher. I rarely ever buy a game at launch price. I'm not caught up in all of the FOMO.

Every time one of these threads is made that seems to be the response to people mentioning to contact the devs for price consideration.
You contact the devs of the games you want, as do the others in the region, and the chances go up but its ultimately up to the developer. Only takes one person for them to consider something, doesn't take much effort either.
Hate to break this to you but your prices seem pretty resonable compaed to the EU and US.

Aveage montly wage is Poland is $2,232

Aveage monthly wage in UK is $2,886

That means Polands average income is 77.,3% of the UKs where as your games are often 50% cheaper than they are in the UK.

We pay taxes per state on top of the prices listed.

Honestly, I don't understand what do you expect.

I checked the prices. The prices in PLN correspond to the prices in EUR (often a bit cheaper). What elase would you like?

To put it bluntly - Poland is so poor compared to Western Europe :jydgedeathshead:
Steam Level 540, RTX 4090 powered decent PC but complains about games being too expensive...

Do what the rest of the world does if things are too expensive, you either don't bother buying them, save until you have enough money or wait until a sale is on.

My suggestion is to not buy games on steam and use 3rd parties,
CD-Keys,Greenmangaming,Humble bundle, Whichever one accepts PLN and has cheapest avaliable price

You should take into account that you not being able to afford the games is not a problem nor something to fix.

Game developers and publishers decide the pricing strategies for their games, not Steam.

Do keep in mind that nobody owes us cheap prices...

PC has more uses than just gaming, He can be coding, editing, rendering blah blah, A 4090 is perfectly reasonable depending on his uses and he isnt wrong, Games are ridiculously expensive thats why Gen-Z has almost been completely pushed out of the market and Millennials are making up the most purchasing.

Not only that a 4090 came out 3 years ago, He could have bought it 3 years and at that time everything was cheaper, Games have went up quite a bit in 3 years depending on region
