Just to add to the ranting
Like everyone else. I’m mad about the age thing. I have bad credit so I can’t get a credit card.

My steam deck was a gift from my fiancé to play in bed because I have chronic illnesses. It’s essentially useless now because I won’t be able to access games that need age verification.

Steam has royally messed up. Time to look for a new gaming system.

And that is not Valve’s problem.
You can still play games you already own.

Also, use the store search, add game to the wishlist from the search page, go to wishlist, add to cart and try to purchase the game/DLC.

Valve may eventually close that workaround but it still works as of now.

Customers unable to access content due to limitations within Valves ID verification system is definitely Valves problem and something they would be looking to address.
No. If someone has bad creditworthiness and therefore doesn’t get a credit card, it’s their own fault. That’s a straight-up self-own.

Or you could just ask for someone to buy the game as a gift for you and pay him back later.
????

There are ways to get one with bad credit. They're called secured cards and usually require a deposit of funds. Everyone's financial situation is different, so maybe those are out of reach, but they are an option. Used responsibly, they can be useful.

Your Steam Deck is useless because you cannot access dodgy cartoon porn??? What kind of excuse is that.

There are credit cards out there which can help repair your bad credit score or if you are on low income. I did a quick Google search yesterday because someone claimed that they couldn't get one either because of being disabled etc but it turns out you can.

And if you can't get a credit card then just be patient. Is it really the end of the world as we know it if you cannot access some dodgy cartoon porn because from my own experience at the moment I don't see a problem waiting and I feel fine...

Can your fiance buy you the games on Steam?

You can always shop for games on GOG too to play on your Steam deck. Plus other games you might already have on physical media if you know how. Or any past games you might have bought from other defunct online stores like Dotemu, etc.

I mean, unless you only strictly want Steam games, there's other places to get games from, today mainly a big one is GOG. You might have issues with some games, but such is the Steam deck.

Or if you do get a new game system, as you mentioned, you can get a handheld Windows computer as an option, like the ROG Ally or similar. Plays all Steam games plus all Windows games and programs natively.

Steam didn't make the law, or vote for the people who did.
