Good luck out there!
Until that happens, they went to the system they can easily enforce right now that is consistant with the UKs laws.
But i would think if they hire an outside contractor, other means will be implemented in the future.
You also won't be able to talk to anyone in game, see text chat in game, receive friend requests, send or receive messages or see activity feed until you have been verified that you are over 18. But if you already own a game that is an 18+ game, you'll still be able to play but can't talk to anyone or messages.
Steam has gone one further than that, those that have/own an adult NSFW type game already, now can't play it. Even though they own it..Crazy
I have not received a message for steam saying this was going to happen..
This “protect kids” nonsense is false propaganda imo, it just forces companies to bow to government enforcements. If anyone was really serious about protecting kids, they’d stop letting ppl in boats hang around streets and kids playgrounds. Also shouldn’t social media be a priority too, since that’s all kids digest (namely tiktok).
As for steam, what’s stopping a verified account gifting a non verified account a game? Once it’s accepted and part of someone’s library, they can only enforce verification on dlc at that point for that title. Regardless of how smutty or 18+ the base game is.
Now that it was applied, it's too late. Steam doesn't care about the why or how, they will simply do their utmost to cover their (legal) bases. Most definitely to your demerit and of course at your expense.
