But at least the child is safe online and that’s all that matters, just ignore the fact that a Labour MSP just got charged with possession inappropriate images of a child and our government is headed by a party composed of people who have actively tried to undermine attempts to get justice for historic child sex abuses
All that matters is that people can no longer access Huniepop
And your credit card info doesn’t prove you are 18, just that you have access to one
I'm 27, i dont have a credit card, i have never needed a credit card. i'm perfectly happy with my debit card which you can get below eighteen...so i'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥
not sur that cc used by people under 18 can be used for buying stuff from internet ...
and at least it does not need gov link and check for a 'pseudo id' card created using claude or similar ♥♥♥♥
it's a quick and easy check that can't be ( atm) not fooled and use the current link and feature allready made under steam
a good exemple of this is the recent law forbidden young french people to have access to porn web site ...it need an id card that can be generate from internet ,if you need access ..
and no need of a vpn
https://next.ink/196980/sites-porno-les-systemes-de-verification-dage-valident-parfois-nimporte-quoi/
But they didn't post any info regarding "when", so...
Sooooooo what you are saying is instead of the OSA all we need is adults to take responsibility and not give children access to mechanisms which enable them to access inappropriate content
Then how about we repeal the OSA and make a new offence under child abuse laws for enabling a child to access inappropriate content aka one time age verification at the ISP level and if you turn that off and you let your child view porn it’s your fault, not ours
All a child needs to add a credit card to their account is -
The card details - Which are on the card
The cards registers address - Which is likely the very home the child is living in
The cards CVC number - Very easy for a child to get by just sitting next to their parent as they enter it
At no point is anything done to identify if the person using that card is an adult, it just assumes they are. A supermarket wouldn’t accept you using a credit card for Challenge 25
Run me through that logic please.
I have owned the account for 21 years, the email address that its linked to for the same amount of time, and the paypal account I use to pay for games since paypal existed..... how would I be younger than 18? are you thinking fountain of youth? stasis pods? some sort of time travel accident?
Muppet.
but can he buy stuff with this card on steam ?
i guess no because it bank account only allow him to some specific stuff and his country
In our governments attempts to help parents circumvent thier responsibilities we are damaging our internet and rights. I know sites that just block the UK rather than deal with the new law, this law should never have passed.
That way Valve is clear in the eye of the law; they added verification method that it's only available when you're >18 and they don't need to care if person is really >18. Responsibility now lies on someone else.
I lost access to Civitai and cannot access it because not only have the owners blocked the UK but said if they see any account accessing it from the UK they will be permanently banned and as their site has a sort of history thing they will know if your account if still using the site if you access with a VPN
I’ve literally sent a photo of my face with my valid UK drivers license to Steam and Steam refused to accept it even thought Category 1 websites would accept this and Ofcom says this is valid ID
