This Will Kill Steam
I was just going through my discovery queue when I hit the age verification barrier. I don't have a credit card, nor do I want one - and even if I did, I would not want to upload details to any site selling games which might contain violence, gore or sex. I've had this account for over 20 years, which is all the verification you should need. I appreciate it's a problem caused by the British Government, but I'm not getting a credit card because they say so. ♥♥♥♥ 'em.

It's only indirectly a problem caused by the (admittedly awful) British government.

The OSA doesn't force any site to only have credit card verification, a method that does not work for most young people. No other site I have seen anywhere on the internet only uses credit card verification.

So although the original wider problem is caused by the British government, the specific problem of only allowing credit card verification falls 100% on Valve's shoulders.

It won't. Worst case scenario, they lose a few customers from an Orwellian nightmare of a country.

I know, I was just cross.
While it's only porn games for a fraction of the user base for steam they aren't gonna care.
If it comes to everything 18+ and to a big territory like the us, then they might actually do something

its not, Fear and hunger 1 & 2 got hit as well as a couple other games with adult themes which gives credence that cyberpunk and such will be next in a few weeks to months.

It affects:
General mature content, violence or gore, some nudity or sexual content.

Unfortunately it isn't just covering those NSFW games.

Red Dead Redemption 2, Helldivers 2, GTA, Ready Or Not, The Last of Us part 2 amongst others are also falling foul of this.

I can still access the store page for red dead redemption 2
The British government will only crack down on this issue, and it is just a matter of time before most western nations will require the same thing. When a government finds another way to control people, even indirectly, have you ever seen them relinquish that control without fear of some major backlash.

And The Last of us part 2 simply asks for your birth date, not ID.

Check what games are listed under the examples on the verification page under account settings.

Just because you are asked your birth date does not mean at a later date you will continue to be able to view the page.
Seems like the UK politicians dont give a damn about petitions or the people's Will (reminds me of my own scum politicians from here).

These idiots and their stupid false moralism. ITS always hollow stupid stuff like this, always in the game of god and purity (what they dont Tell you is the sick and Twisted stuff they do when no one is looking).

Bet they wouldnt stick their big nose in other people's livres If they were given the same treatment french monarchs had in the past.

It might be just the porn stuff, I dunno. I have all the adult filters set to 'off', and I was going through my discovery queue when something triggered the OSA block, preventing me from going any further.

It's not, any games that have violence or adult themes ( gore etc ) are also included

The last of us part 2 has adult themes and a sex scene which is only depicted off screen but is heavily implied and that is listed as one of the example games that are falling under the new rules.
