This is actually ridiculous because where do they draw a line? its not just here, I wont be able to buy gta 6 or replay cyberpunk because i don't own my "Mandatory credit card"? i owned a car, got a rented place and financed my partners engagement ring with a debt card but apparently some ♥♥♥♥ and balls is too much.
Fix this ♥♥♥♥ steam or else it will be a CLA. You can't bar people from their library on the rules of some flimsy easily proven to struggle to get bit of plastic and even if you put it in their own TOS that wont stop the suing from thousands of adults who just got told they cant access their libraries anymore.
Well, your account is too young to view the adult material Valve are being forced to hide from you because of your laws. So if they were using account age as proof of anything, you'd still be blocked.
nice bait, i laughed but thats not how it works lmao
i like the idea you can be 18 and then have to wait until you're 36 to play adult games without vetting KEK
Yep this is what they could have used
Facial age estimation – you show your face via photo or video, and technology analyses it to estimate your age.
Open banking – you give permission for the age-check service to securely access information from your bank about whether you are over 18. The age-check service then confirms this with the site or app.
Digital identity services – these include digital identity wallets, which can securely store and share information which proves your age in a digital format.
Credit card age checks – you provide your credit card details and a payment processor checks if the card is valid. As you must be over 18 to obtain a credit card this shows you are over 18.
Email-based age estimation – you provide your email address, and technology analyses other online services where it has been used – such as banking or utility providers - to estimate your age.
Mobile network operator age checks – you give your permission for an age-check service to confirm whether or not your mobile phone number has age filters applied to it. If there are no restrictions, this confirms you are over 18.
Photo-ID matching – this is similar to a check when you show a document. For example, you upload an image of a document that shows your face and age, and an image of yourself at the same time – these are compared to confirm if the document is yours.
If youve got a credit card youve got a bank account. If youve got a debit card youve got a bank account. So why bank check wasnt chosen over credit card check is baffling.
It's not "bait" it's a statement based on the demands made in other topics about this subject. There are people who believe that the age of their Steam account has a correlation to their own age and their perceived right to be allowed to buy items that your country now required age-verification for.
How it "works" right now, is that if you want to buy such age-gated titles on Steam in your country, you will need to use a valid UK issued credit card and pass the age-verification process your country is forcing on Valve.
If you'd rather Valve violate your privacy be demanding far more sensitive information to prove your age, then feel free to tell them via Steam Support.
It's definitely bait because the idea someone would go "my acc is 18 so i am" is absurd or children, the correct thought process would be "his acc is 18 so he must have made it when he was 8 or similar"
lmao who gets born with a steam account although there is credence to the "my acc is an adult so remove the filter" because if steam is actually good at cracking down on bought accounts or cloned ones then there shouldn't be any issue from that angle.
Man just sod ofcom into the damn dirt and anyone who defends this because "muh children" i find that so insulting as a parent
Having to pass the age verification process enforced by the law im not happy with but ill do. Having to sign up to a credit card to verify im over 18 is the problem. Theres multiple other methods they could have used. Literal porn sites dont ask for a credit card to verify. Also its not just porn games being restricted, Fear & Hunger I can no longer see the store page of.
this and i also now have this issue along with termina
edit: at least i can play them still since i kept them installed

I could go on...
All of which are far more invasive of your privacy and require the storing of the collected data. If you'd rather Valve do that, then contact Steam Support and tell them.
My bank details are already stored so how is confirming my age with the bank more invasive than making me sign up for a credit card? They have my name, email, card details, paypal and home address. All thats left is my photo so its not like Valve have zero data on me and im some unkown user whos spent no money and using a fresh account.
Dont worry I have contacted them with all verified listed methods.
Wait a minute.
Is that actually what they've done? I thought once it was in your account you'd have access to it regardless of this.
like i can play funger 1 & 2 (fear and hunger) but if i uninstall em i may lose access entirely
