🟢 The UK age verification doesn't even work! Please Fix Valve!
The age verification page says it charges £1 so I click the button and then it says to open your Bank App to confirm it so I did, must be bugged.

I then added £4 to my Steam Wallet (as a test) that works lol.

Can't find the Steam Support Page to talk and get help about this issue too.

There's no reason they can't have other options for age verification beyond credit cards, it doesn't make sense they have that as the only way to do it.

Credit card companies have a vested interest, and as such should perform due diligence. You've had a whole month to prepare for this day, and this method addresses the number one concern. That personally identifiable information wouldn't be secure. Well this is as secure as your data can get, and the information isn't in the hands of the government.

It's a reasonable solution to the problem you, and your government created on your own. Frankly blaming the victim the company forced to change. For what your government bullied them into. What's next hmm blaming in on how she's dressed. Why should they have to jump through all of these hoops. When it is you and yours that are the problem.
This is damn stupid I hate our government. Steam please fix your system I have a card and when I select it does nothing i try and reenter manually I get a fail and try again later. Sort your stuff out please.

How Bold of you that everyone is able to even get a credit card - the fact that the be all, end all verification method is a credit card and ONLY a credit card is such a stupid overly restrictive verification method

Even for the UK, theres at LEAST 3 methods I know of that are government approved age verification methods that are not credit card related - the fact that there is NOT a single alternative verification method is a major issue, especially depending on your country that might not even have credit cards that are one of the 3 types listed

Yeah I know kids can't get credit cards. Isn't that kind of the whole point of this. They are letting someone they trust vouch for you, and not conferring with somebody who's threatened them. At the end of the day your government threatened them.

Yeah your government collects data on you your entire life, and at least for now still feels some need to placate you. Maybe buying into this unhealthy relationship got you here in the first place. You've succumbed to the nanny state, and want Valve to succumb as well.

You're not being stopped from buying games. You're being stopped from buying adult games, and the way things are going over there. You probably wont be allowed to buy, or own those for much longer anyway, and if you can't get a credit card. Buying adult games is likely part of the problem.

With that being said. I take a small bow.
also it doesn't help that you can only use a credit card to verify, since we all know that precisely 0 people use a debit card

You can only save ONE type of payment method to your account. If your current saved payment method isn't a CREDIT CARD, it won't let you view these store pages. That means everytime you purchase any game you need to manually enter your debit card information, every, single, time.

added my debit card, along with paypal already added ages ago as my preferred way of paying, still won't let me update preferences or view store material. I got the £1.00 charge on the bank app, still no changes. EDIT: But why the hell is it a credit card but not a debit card? not every adult HAS a credit card or use it often.

Well, they have to do it this way, because what if you removed the credit card and suddenly got 25 years younger?

I want to know why I have to verify when you can just look at my account creation date. I made this account over twenty years ago; it's pretty obvious that I'm over eighteen.
