We need longer playtime for Refunds
The 2 hr playtime refund policy for steam is such a crock of ♥♥♥♥. In this day and age most games take longer then 2 hrs to get into, hell some of em have a hr long intro sequence. I feel we should get at least 4-6 hrs of playtime to get a decent feel of the game to decide on whether we enjoyed our purchase. I get that it being a digital license makes it a bit harder then just trading in a physical disc but 2 hrs is barely any time.

If it's taking you longer than an hour to decide if you like a game, do better research beforehand. Two hours is plenty of time to confirm that the game works on your machine and is already overly generous given the legally mandated refund window for digital goods of this nature is 0 seconds after initiating download.
The refund policy is not for demoing games.

It's to make sure the game can run properly on your computer in most cases.

There are sites such as youtube and twitch to see if it's a game you may like.

Your playtime for refunds is based around whatever your countries consumer laws state, the two hour window is arbitrary nonsense that means nothing since valve has to follow the laws of the countries it does business in. If you feel you are entitled to a refund then make a manual support ticket outlining exactly what your countries consumer laws are and they will begrudgingly give the refund.

They do not owe you a refund option at all. Be happy they have a 2h/2w option in case the game does not work. The refund option is NOT there for you to see if you like the game.

Research isn't going to change anything when it comes to liking the game, If I'm worried about it working on my machine I read the hardware requirements. If I want to try out a game I shouldn't be limited to only 2 hrs to play and then I cant refund it, most games take longer then 2 hrs to get a feel for.

Watching a youtube video isn't going to tell me if I like a game or not

Maybe in your country but in my country the refund window for digital goods is the same as any other goods and steam lost in court over this, that’s the problem with giving incorrect and general advice rather than just telling people to follow their countries laws.

That is not what the refund system is for. again, it is ONLY if does not work on your device. Be glad they provide that.

Do you not understand what a refund is? Its there to provide the consumer their cash back if a product is damaged, not working, or the customer doesn't like it

In most developed western countries they absolutely do owe a refund and have lost in court before over attempting to deny said refunds.

In Australia (which I believe you are from here too), Consumer Law does not guarantee a refund for a change of mind. So the statement "the refund policy is not to be used for trialing games" is correct.

If the product is faulty, then yes, you are entitled to a refund, but there are certain requirements that have to be met in regards to the fault of the item.

I respectfully disagree.

What if you could rent games? Would that suit you? That way the dev would get something.
