There are a few cool free to play survival games on steam, like Unturned and Muck. It is hard to recommend Valve's free to play choices in good faith. CS2 and TF2 will be riddled with cheaters as an F2P, but they're great games.

Warframe is probably the free game I've gotten the most people to download just by describing it to them.

There's quite a few.

The first poster names a few, but you delve a bit deeper and there's loads more. It really depends on how far you want to go and what your tastes are.

One of my favourites that's free is Valve's reboot of Alien Swarm (Reactive Drop). Plenty of content totally free, if you like top down twin stick shooters.
