Anyone who cannot acess to steam site or the client:
It was a large DDOS attack, largest in history!
It may coming back like now on this time, or maybe coming a another attack!

A group of people are looking for internet fame.
It did not just hit Steam but also Riot Games, Epic, AWS, Cloudflare and others.

It is currently believed to have being the Aisuru botnet that caused it.

That wouldn't be a very effective thing to announce, because the community would be down with the store and chat. If they can see this, the rest of it is up.

Wasn't a very effective ddos in terms of time. It'll only bring unwanted attention to those trying to disrupt multiple services, especially for AWS & CloudFlare.
Oooh, "largest in history", eh?

The same thing they call every DDoS attack.

one of the largest was a 7.(something) Tbps DDoS that took 45 seconds, although that may seem small

it's the equivalent of thousands of things, in 45 seconds
so like 37 Tbps or smth

how fast and how big was this one?

Yes because as the number of devices in the world increase the number of infected devices used to perform the attacks also increase.
wasnt the largest ddos attack in history but its one of the longest ones.
there was a ddos attack iirc in 2023 or was it 2022 that took out about 60% of the internet.
i forget exactly the year but that time most of the internet was unavailable.

this wasnt the largest ddos as there wasnt a wide spread internet downtime,
a large ddos attack would be a complete internet wipeout.

Well normally they measure largest as not by the impact but by the amount of data sent aka bits per second. So a smaller attack can do more damage if it finds a weaker link in the network. So in this case it was the largest by volume of data sent, but not largest in terms of impact
how people are dumb enough to use the c00lkid club except for skins aswell as the other variants is beyond me

for context: 2 "you have been reported for violating.." blah blah comments were posted
