Why is steam against Wise & Revolut?

I mean, they are both travel and multicurrency cards mainly used for vacation (as in having money held in other currencies) but they fail when it comes to adding them as a payment method either on overseas Playstation or Steam storefronts, like how a (US) Charles Schwab card won't work on Japanese steam (refused outright).

It's like if one tries to use either a Wise or Revolut card (as in the ones for travel) on another region's game storefront (PS store or steam itself) they are declined. Even if an American player has a Wise card with Yen, adding that card onto Japanese PS store: it won't accept that even.

Why is it that player can't use their own card on foreign steam (not their real residence) when they want to use another country's storefront (as it requires a billing address) but can they just make one up or is it fraud? However, they can still use that payment method on real life purchases (like eating out, shopping, hotel) but is refused on steam or PS store purchases.

Because the stores you mention use local currency for their store fronts and require that currency to be paid via a local payment method. PlayStation Japan, like the other consoles, specifically use Japanese credit card payment methods to verify age. They no longer accept non-Japan issued credit cards for this reason. Nintendo, was AFAIK, the last store to stop supporting foreign payment methods in Japan -- and they dropped them last year.

Steam store region is also set based on criteria such as local payment method to verify location. So again, Valve will not support a payment method designed to obfuscate geographic borders. And if you're on a vacation (which you cite as the usage example for that payment method) you can simply continue to use your actual Steam store location and payment method for the duration of your vacation.

Man I've done so many police reports at my bank job and Revolut is probably the nr 1 target to send your money too in these cases.

By a large margin too.
Maybe that has something to do with it.

Steam isn't against them. They are just not safe to use outside regions here.
