Playing a game like Squad is something that would kill many people's interest with the slow gameplay, but I love spending hours in that with out long each game is (2 hours max), the ever changing battlefield, and guns working the way they should work.
The easiest games people get attached to are:
Team Fortress 2
CS2
Warframe
Warthunder
World of Warships
The Finals
Apex
Overwatch
Marvel Rivals
Stardew Valley
Cities Skyline
What games did you used to play that gave you the most positive feedback?
Definitely cs go and rdr2. I have always been into fps games but usually they dont last long cuz they get so repetitive and its the same goal always
One also you might want to try is No Mans Sky. Since i played last time, they added more stuff to in, including building your own corvette ships. The story you must search out for the game, as it is not put in your face and your not forced to look for it, but only if you want to.
I also have some FF games on there, but be aware that time is due mostly for farming side quest items.
Yakuza series is also very interesting, but requires lots of times due to side activities in it like karoke and racing tiny cars, and even playing video games inside the video game.
RDR2 is a great choice.
If you don't find meaningful gameplay in the challenge of other players, an FPS where rooms are randomly generated, enemy spawns change, or weapons are random might be up your alley. If L4D2 was a riot, another Rouge-Like fps game might do you better. I don't have any of those recommendations personally, but I do hope you find one soon.
Yea but avoid RDR2 ONLINE. It is full of cheaters. Some of my friends played it and found these random chests scattered online on the maps and got banned off the game. Best to only play single player game version of it. Here in fact is a post asking about making a private RDR2 server due to cheaters:

Yeah true but in Fact I have about 150 hours in rdr2 online and cheater encounters are not that usual as people might think. And if you do see one, you can change the session before anything happens
Your lucky. First time my friend played he had a cheater kill him in a non-killing area. So i guess it depends on your luck.
Funny that you have Subnautica 2 in your wishlist but did not play the first one, which is way better and superior, at all...
A bit pricey with all the DLC for it, but should have you covered. And that's before you start adding mods. Game's not the most beginner-friendly experience though, might want to practice in the "Instant action" mode to get the feeling how various mechs handle and mess around with custom builds before you try the campaign and career mode. Play the tutorial first, btw. Helps with the controls and basic tips.

Pretty good Action RPG with a nice selection of basic classes, multi-classing system and even has limited role-playing elements (choices with minor effects on some side-plots).Plenty of mods to even further improve an already great experience.
If you don't mind a bit more of an investment, look into the "Kiseki/Trails" series.
Why? I haven't resumed it yet since it dropped, waiting for the updates to stop and for mods to catch up.
Left 4 Dead 2
Geometry Dash
Old School RuneScape
GTA V
CS2
Valheim
Red Dead Redemption 2
Helldivers II
Rust
PUBG
Those are all pretty good titles for sinking hours into AFAIK (I haven’t personally played any of them though, I’m speaking from what I’ve heard about them-some like GTA V, Rust & especially CS2 and PUBG are not really my thing genre-wise).
So, some personal recommendations:
Baldur's Gate 3
Divinity Original Sin 2: Definitive Edition
No Man’s Sky
Hades
Elden Ring (most other Souls games and Soul-likes will give you a good number of hours from the difficulty alone, tbh)
Morrowind (if you don’t mind fairly old-school graphics and mechanics)
Oblivion (original or remake)
Skyrim
Stardew Valley (many other “cozy games” fit this bill too: Coral Island, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Powerwash Simulator-this last one didn’t immediately grab me personally, but a lot of people love it-etc.)
Deep Rock Galactic (definitely better if you have people to play co-op with)
Dead Cells
Torchlight II
Vampire Survivor
Personal suggestions for MMOs outside of OSRS (again, haven’t played it), BDO and GW2 are The Elder Scrolls Online and/or the free trial of Final Fantasy XIV
And, games I’ve yet to play at all (a few I own, just haven’t gotten around to playing yet), but have heard good things about:
Hades II
The Witcher 3
Monster Hunter: World
The Long Dark
Warframe
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
Risk of Rain 2
The Binding of Issac: Rebirth
Cyberpunk 2077
Fallout: New Vegas
Possibly Garry’s Mod? (IDK what sort of state it’s in now, tbh)
For games still in Early Access:
Palworld
Project Zomboid
Enshrouded
