What Makes a Seasonal Sale “Worth it”?
As is tradition another Steam sale and the usual disappointment from some, satisfaction for others, and the crowd that’s neither underwhelmed nor overwhelmed, just whelmed.

What would make any given sale worth it to those disappointed? Is it the depth of discounts or the breadth being more games seeing a discount within a specific range I.e. 80% off? I’ve seen prices go up and discounts not be as good as historical lows for the past few years. Generally there are a few games every sale that pique my interest with decent deals.

I understand not everyone can always be happy, but would be interested in the community’s thoughts on this.

It's just a chance for devs/pubs to participate in 4 additional sales per year without the 30 day discounting cooldown in between.

At the bare minimum this would drive engagement and interest into the platform. And also show they care enough to host one of those for the gamers out there...

Purchasing is voluntary not mandatory during any sale.

For developers, publshers, participating is not mandatory nor to do they have to have specific percentage discounts.

Nothing makes it worth it recently.

You get to buy a $70-$80 game for $50-$60...

We getting to Amazon levels of ridicules sales. Raise price by 30% then do 10% sale.

Unless you are looking for 5-8 years old titles.

Got a bunch of games & DLC off my wishlist for little dough. Sale worth it.
Whatever worth you can find out of any sale is what makes it worth it. If you can't find anything worthwhile, then the sale isn't worth it for you. But it's all down to personal preferences

Nothing. They just like to complain.
Same as any other sale. Games you might want at a discount. Expecting games which aren't even a year old to be 50-80% off is pretty unrealistic to say the least. And that seems to be the case for every person making posts about being disappointed in a sale.
