Is this a scam?

I got a frend request telling me that my name had been used for the purchase of something and apparently this person reported me when the money did not go into their account.

I'm now messaging with a Carl Thompson (1013419743) about how my account is supposed to be banned within the next 5 hours and I need to cooperate with them.

I recieved no email or other warning from Steam about this and I'm always getting emails about discounts.

They tell me how all funds will be "returned to my account" but this all seems suspect to me.

What do y'all think?

its a common scam. report and block them immediately. Support will only contact you via proper channels, not by friending your profile and messaging you via steam chat or via discord

It is best to ask when in doubt, many people have fell for that an similar scams.
