About what percentage of game buyers ever give a review on steam?
It would be good to know what percentage of purchased games on steam get a review, on average.

A lot of times I add up the positive and negative reviews to get a guess at how many people have bought the game. It tells me a lot even though I do not know the total number of purchases.

Does anyone know?

On average, only about 1–3% of Steam buyers leave a review, meaning roughly 1 review for every 30–60 sales. The exact percentage varies by game type, price, age, and visibility, newer or cheaper games often see higher review rates, while older or heavily discounted titles tend to have lower ones. A safe rule of thumb is that reviews represent around 2% of total sales.

It would be nice if people left more reviews,.. liked or not.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I know I personally only leave negative reviews. And even then only for games that were particularly disappointing to me.

If I'm enjoying a game then I'm too busy playing it to review. But if I had high hopes for a game and it disappoints me then I just have to get that frustration out somehow, and the review is how I do it. I'm just not compelled to review good games, it's harder to speak at length about things a game did right.

So I'd take number of reviews with a grain of salt when judging whether to buy a game or not. Instead I like to filter only negative reviews, and see if there are any complaints that appear repeatedly.

The nature of the complaints is more important than their number.
Heard it was somewhere between 5% and 10%. The popular the game is the more people feel inclined to review.. And yeah gamers generally only bother to review if the game evokes enough of a feeling in them that they need to say something.
