Yep, it's crazy. I skipped this whole generation. Between this new pc and ge force now, i haven't missed anything. Except save money.
Next gen when Xbox gets Steam, then i'll jump.
My thoughts?
Get a PC + PS5 Controller + Wireless Keyboard and Mouse + (Optional) Wireless Headeset = Enjoy everything a PS5 offers and more.
But, if the convenience of easily setting up your entertainment system is top priority then yeah get a PS5.
It's up to you, what are your preferences?
EDIT: Also I forgot to mention, if exclusive titles on PS5 are a deal breaker for you then you only have once choice, research what games you are interested before the purchase.
If you want cheaper games you have to buy used discs, but often you still have to download the game and every time you want to play you have to insert disc into drive like it was 90s.
Completely dependent on region. I can buy day one, brand new, physical on PS5 and save from 10 to 30% of the price being charged on Steam. Silent Hill F was 16% cheaper than the Steam price. I waited 5 months after release any picked Skull and Bones brand new for 96% cheaper than the Steam price.
Now, I don't know how people in your region treat their discs, but when I buy second hand in mine, 99% of the time, the discs are in perfect condition.
but sometimes the game is not on disc, it's just license disc.
and there are problems like I read you can't play MW3 2023 with disc anymore, because they separated MW3 from COD launcher recently and after that disc version stopped working.
Game pass offer is too limited, plenty of games that aren't there. It's good for trying out new CODs, instead of spending $80 buy 1 month of game pass and it's more than enough to get frustrated with matchmaking and ragequit.
Can't think of a single PS5 game where that's true. Switch 2 has "key cards" that are essentially a dongle granting access to a download, but that, at the end of the day, is little different to buying a PC game that is download only. The advantage it has over the PC download, is that high street stores sell them, and as such, they see the same generous discounts born of limited shelf space that digital doesn't.
Some games I remember not being able to play until I downloaded the patch were Black Ops 3 (most CoD games fit the description though), and Final Fantasy 15, both on xbox 1. For Black Ops 3, I could only boot up the game and stare at the menus. I just couldn't play any of the main modes until I updated the game. Final Fantasy 15, I could only access the tutorial until it updated the 30GBs day one update. I remember both of these because my internet was so slow back then it'd take days to download these updates.
My thoughts on it is that I'm happy with owning them all. There's several non-popular exclusives I have from my favourite game series', which is the main reason I got them.
But I also enjoy playing certain game types on consoles, like most sports games. I re-wired controllers so I can use on all platforms, so I'm happy with that. I also like with some of these games I can avoid the stuff they put in the PC versions of the games.
Also, don't wait for future consoles or future technology. There's always something new coming. Get what you want now or you'll always be waiting.
