There are many other places to buy and play games these days. It isn't like Steam gives good prices so who really cares. Also if you buy from GOG you can actually own your games. You can also get a subscription from various places that will let you play almost anything and everything such as Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Not to mention Gamepass is also limited in the number of games it offers, wow just checking and it's currently just under 500 pc games in total. So in no way does this allow people to play almost anything as the poster you quoted claims.

The last time people overseas were raging against my country's laws, the government that proposed the future legislation didn't survive the subsequent election. (Yes, I know that wasn't a factor in the result.) I'll believe that Steam is included when legislators actually say so, and not before. I also doubt such laws would be stronger than the UK laws even if they do pass parliament.

It's okay, if you just hop everywhere for the next few weeks the law won't go through. I heard it on a youtube channel so it must be true.

Most likely it's what they're talking about. Steam, amongst other platforms are being assessed to see whether the social media ban applies to them.

Although anything is possible in today's age, I would find it highly questionable for Steam to be considered "social media" by mainstream standards. The primary function of Steam is to distribute games for people to play. Forums are less than a secondary function to this platform, and are not used by the majority.

However, if Steam is found to be applicable to this under 16 ban, it would not mean that Steam is being banned in Australia.
