Security compromised um yeah this was dumb anyways...
The security of Steam feels more like now something to question. I have gotten multiple random people friending me, advertising me a potentially dangerous website and getting away with it. ALWAYS BE CAUTIOUS; QUESTION EVERYTHING! edit: this was dumb but make fun of me yay

Every platform has these. Some scammers use a bunch of computers and smartphones with special software to spam people with scam links or messages that funnel users into the scam.

They spam on mass and make money because a small number of receivers are inexperienced and fall for the scams.

It's part of life, unfortunately. Be careful who you're messaging with. Try to watch some documentaries on how these scammers operate. Stay safe.

steam security is 100% working. It is the userbase that is the problem

report, block, move on.
Hmm but its very prominent. And there are supposed scam games on Steam.

Google will link you to malicious websites. You'll find crypto scams on YouTube. Twitter. Facebook. Instgram. TikTok. You'll find people trying to scam others on these daily.

It behooves the user to be vigilant. It's the only way you can protect yourself. These websites won't do it for you. They'll try to limit it the best they can, but you are the final line in the sand.

Oh, thank you for this important tip! I would have, in fact, just handed over my login details to some random user and, for good measure, tossed in my credit card information too ...

What is to be questioned about security? A friend request is a feature of Steam, if you receive one and the person is attempting to scam you report and block, the only way security would be compromised is if you voluntarily click malicious links ergo the security itself is fine however the account holder's actions can be questionable.

Yeah Ik
Zero to do with security.

Your inventory is public showing what CS2 items you have.

You are in a group with 34,874 members. Anyone in that group could be sending you a friend request.

Exactly. Common sense is the best tool.

You could start by making your inventory private, that would help a lot.

So if you didn't see the dozens of other threads warning about this exact same thing what good do you think your thread is going to be, OP?
