Discount Cooldowns Will Be 30 Days, Starting Jan 1
Changes effective for newly entered discounts that start after January 1st
Back in March, we announced an official 'cooldown' timeframe of 28 days between discounts. However, in order to be aligned with evolving regulatory requirements, we’re extending the required time between discounts to now be 30 days.

Why the change?
Lately our team has been looking for ways to help developers and publishers plan discounts and sale events further ahead. We've run a number of official themed sale events through 2022 and will be soon announcing our full calendar of sale events for 2023 (look for that announcement in the coming weeks!). Between the official Steam sale events and the many opportunities that are organized by game developers and game conference organizers, there is no shortage of discounting opportunities available to participate in—but we have to balance those opportunities against regulatory requirements.

What is changing?
Effective today, any new discounts you enter in the Steamworks backend that start after January 1st must be at least 30 days following another scheduled discount, price increase, or game launch. Don't worry—any existing discounts scheduled in the Steamworks backend are unaffected.

For the sake of clarity, this means a gap of 30 days from the 'end date' of one discount to the 'start date' of the next. As always, our four Steam-wide seasonal sale events (Autumn, Summer, Winter and Spring) are exempt from that cooldown-between-discounts requirement.

Ok, I kinda get it, but..... will be it in the sale or not? I'm sorry I'm not tech savy or Steam savy.
It hasn't been 30 days since it was on sale, so...

Someone on reddit mentioned RE9 pre-orders start in a few days, so considering Capcom is a big publisher maybe they can use that as an excuse and still put the franchise on sale, fingers crossed because I've been thinking of buying RE2 lately.

There's no requirement for a game to be discounted while featured in these events. There are many others listed on the event page that are full price.
