i don't know what you mean by this.
its outlined clearly in the subscriber aggrements and term of service, that the user is held responsible for actions taken with the account. that will include game bans or account termination, which are both methods that can be used by steam to prevent foul actions with the account.
this responsibility does lie with the user.
the user is of course free to go seek compensation from the thief, but tracking cybercriminals is difficult if one does not have the measures already in place.
furthermore, the phishing scam / account hijack is the result of the user allowing the attacker access. if one simply keeps the cyber door 'locked' the criminals do not get in.
I lay this responsibility at the complainant's feet every time, on the basis that 'bad people are out there' and 'bad people will do bad things to you, if you give them the chance'.
respectfully, i find that rarely does the complainant have 'clean hands' in these 'mystical hacker' scenarios - which are pretty far fetched to those of us adept with technology in general..
still, i sympathize. however i don't believe retelling the tale or trying to redirect the blame to steam with the 'unfair' ban is a useful exercise.
yes but like I show them proof that I didn't scam them they got into my account they did like all the trust stuff like at the end they tell me that 50% is deleted and 50% I have to buy and the person was not held accountable
well, i definitely do not understand the situation, so i cannot really comment further, my post is just a generality of data gathered over years of reading these.
I hope you can reach a resolution, and you've already contacted steam support but its best to keep the expectations low.
I do appreciate the good intent behind the message, individuals should always recognize official communications from steam support never happen outside of steam, and never in publicly accessible user to user chats, comment sections or forum posts. ever.
That was nothing to do with steam, it was a scammer, you didnt have to give a penny, you just had to follow the proper steps to secure your account.
