Is the the publishers, game developers?

At the very least the game developers. Sometimes they don’t even select them and Steam’s outsourced moderation will do the work.

yes, the game developers and publishers control their own selection of who is moderator. Normally staff members of the team.

They can also opt in to steams outsourced moderation team to handle it.

So basically these people work on "customer support" and their actions and attitude would affect the company who assigned them?

your attitude may be the issue, not the games moderators. remember, your post history can be viewed by everyone.

if you have an issue with a game hub moderator, you contact that games developer or publisher. they assigned then, they are the ones that will decide how to address the issue.

They're appointed by the developer (or the publisher, whoever has the upper hand business-wise) They're not always employees and sometimes helpful people in the community is promoted to be mods. (For larger studios the positions are usually filled by actual employees)

Forums are also moderated by Steam's moderation staff (Unless the developer opts out of it)

And? It was just a question.
If you meant my recent outburst, then yes I agree; take into consideration where it originated from. It will take some time though, a few years of toxicity on that forum and others.

Thanks! I'll look into this.

@Wolf Knight. I didn't see your edit until now. The contacts to the company in question is just directed to the forums or their external. But the same people are assigned there so...

If they ban you for something you feel was wrong just don't buy their games anymore.. if enough people do that their companies will feel the bite.. It just takes time.

The portion of the playerbase that visits the forums for a given game is usually small. This could be a reason why companies wouldn’t care too much about who they select as moderators or how strict their game hub rules are. Speculation on my part.

Less Customer Support, and more COmmunity Management. These are different things .

If it is only community management it would make sense with immature and often hostile environments in the forums.

But where do we turn if we're not getting proper and professional support on the game forums?

I guess Valve/Steam have to reconsider the community guidelines and requirements for developers/publishers.

Until then I guess removing the game and not purchasing their products are the options we as customers have.

I do not understand the reference.
Anyone who scores in the double-digit range on an IQ test. Same for the appointees.
It's very similar to how Steam Groups work. Managers of that group (which are game developers in this case) can mark members of the group as moderators or officers.

Generally, the publisher won't have anyone in their company represented as a game developer, but they may provide moderation services on top of what Steam and the game developer already have depending on the contract they have with the developer.

No, they often simply are volunteers who moderate, nothing more.

People want to attach more to it, but that's just people being people.
