Cannot access Steam or other Video games servers.
Problem:

Sim powered wireless wifi router doesn't allow connection to external servers, so steam, ea, discord, vsee, doesn't work. But just basic websites and Google searching etc works.

Context:

I recently moved houses, new address has no access to internet line, so I need wireless WiFi router. Only solution is Sim powered router. I get TPlink archer MR200 with a KPN unlimited data package. It doesn't work so I call with kpn and tplink , idiots refer me to each other. Finally I refund archer MR200, I buy archer MR600. Same problem. SIM card works perfectly when in my phone. Also the TP-link quick setup fails on both routers. It fails at "tplink cloud service" step.

Attempted solution:

1. kPN says they are not allowed to port forward/open ports for me
2. I tried this anyways and didn't work (adding video game ports to virtual servers list)
3. I have switched on UPnP, and enabled DMZ.
4. I have changed primary and secondary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
5. Switched on data roaming, NAT, and mobile data.
6 added profile for custom KPN APN - KPNG.nl and something else. kPN confirmed they did not change their APN

I know nothing about computers or internet, I just want Internet. Please help me because the rest of the internet and the guys working at media markt make me think I'm the first person to ever have this issue.

Same issue here.
Until my fibre will be installed I have internet via 4G with congstar sim and TP link router MR6400.
It works fine for my work but STEAM can't connect.

With my DSL connection I had before, steam worked fine. So it has to be related to the TP link router.

May I ask how you solved your issue?

my solution was to add an ipv4 address to my router. You need ipv6 i think to access normal stuff which my router had, but you need to have ipv4 for gaming related stuff. Its a weird solution, but this is what ultimately helped me. Your going to want to google how to add an ipv4&6 address to your router via the admin page.

Took me like 15 seconds to figure out what the heck the first sentence is. You might want to add sim card, or phone delivered internet via the 4g or 5g protocol, instead of just sim.

Hey,
thanks for the reply EGG.
I figured it out the day after I wrote you. In my case it was related to the "Profile Name" inside the Internet settings of my TP Link router.
Default setting was "Congstar internet (default 1)". I changed it to "Telekom internet (default 4)" and the issue was gone.
I can only assume that each setting has its own set of properties and for some reason the congstar setting didn't work.

CU :)
