I'm having the same thing, this is outright ridiculous. I thought it was just the new sounds that were bad, but now I'm starting to have major issues with everything. Notifications don't even show up half of the time, including the sounds. My friend was messaging me yesterday for around twenty minutes when I was in-game and I didn't realise he was doing so, because of these issues. He went offline.

This is unacceptable, it's as if it cannot handle the new UI, it feels like the Steam Overlay is just crashing and slowing down, this should still be in beta if that's the case. They really need to give us an option to revert back as well, because with however many changes they make, some people just prefer the old one and they always will. I cannot even join my friends game like you, he cannot invite me either. They've broken the most important thing.

I did. I right clicked on his name and everything and they didn't show up. It's an issue with Steam, not us.

this has less to do with the chat update. that was the privacy update in april and it probably didn't work since then.

It's you, I'm fine over here, try re-install steam or force quit steam so it does those auto-updates when you first launch it

Yes that was exactly what I did. Have you tried the invite to game option which does not invite them to your lobby but just invites them to the main screen of the game and gives no option for you to allow them in?

My friend and I did check our privacy settings but we are both completely public, I don't think its that. Because up until the new chat UI update I could still invite my friends to my lobbies with no issues.

the same problem, I invite my friends to my lobby and it shows only text not the invite itself.

I am also unable to invite friends with steams new retarded UI. WHy is teher no fix for this ♥♥♥♥ yet. It has almost been a month already.

change that.

Half a year later, same issues, only found it cause of the terrible sale quests that require you to explore steam. Like i care. Now I can;t finish the quests
