What's your opinion on the "Visual Novels" on Steam?

I would discuss this on the discussion forums of one of the individual "games", but the weaboos do nothing but defend their precious garbage anyway.

Let me start by saying, from what I have seen these VN's have gotten progressively worse as they go along. I don't own any as I'm not into them (and porn is free, I'd rather go watch it than buy it on Steam.) One of my friend's was talking about one over a year ago, and explained how it had loads of choices, multiple endings, etc. That didn't seem that bad. One of the newest ones to hit Steam is called "Happy Campers". This has got to be one of the the biggest money grab attempts I've ever seen on Steam. It's not even remotely Japanese as far as I can tell. It's made by one guy. It might be, who knows. But I don't believe that the people playing it are. This "story" has also got to be the worst I've ever heard of, read reviews and read the forums. It's pretty much just panty shots and big boobs galore.

I actually did post in their forums a couple times, having "heated discussions" with people, but the developer (if you can call him that) removed most of my comments, and has been banning critics left and right.

I really want to know... What is the ACTUAL point of buying this? The weaboos will say for the story, or to support the creator, but that's utter BS... An early age children's book has more story than some of these.

So what is your guys' opinion on these? The first few I've seen didn't look all that bad... But now almost every one of them has a link to an 18+ patch pinned right on their forum, proving my point further that these are not for story. I don't believe porn belongs on Steam, but hey, that's me.

As you somewhat implied, the same could be said of fans of other genres.

You can just look at the discussion pages and reviews to see the evidence. As well as a lot of people's profiles, which are littered with hentai and groups of the sort. The internet is a place where people can hide behind their screen yes, I prefer to be as real as possible, I only make genuine friends on here even though I could have like 800 on my list. How people are on the internet can also speak about how they are in real life too sometimes. I wasn't talking about everyone that likes VNs, some in general just like them, however there is quite a lot of people who post filth and pathetic crap about it. I am very aware people are bad in general too, I just make a habit of avoiding the obvious creeps is all. Just go to certain game forums on steam and you can easily see how bad the steam community can be, or be in here, off topic and all the others.

No person can be friends with everyone, its human nature that we all differ and dislike some and like others. I've had bad experiences with men a lot of the time but I'm not so evil as to say they are all bad, just like some anime lovers and VN lovers.

If I look at the CS:GO forums, I see a lot of overly toxic and racist players. Many have profiles with content related to the Thrid Reich. It's par of the course for popular stuff to also include idiots. But that doesn't mean one should generalize.
A large portion of those people claiming "anime is porn and therefore bad" probably wank to Quiet in MSG V or to Overwatch porn.

... and in the olden days people wanked to Lara Croft or Heavy Metal: FAKK 2.

Then people need to get out more and try to find a partner lol. Steam does a terrible job at moderating so regardless of what is said we have to deal anyway. They only care when it affects revenue, another reason why you should keep to yourself and friends. I watch anime, I enjoy it. But some people go too far with things, in all games and genres yes, if they find comfort in it then thats good but they should find a real friend/partner, I don't think I could deal without mine. Just annoying that theres so much crap and junk all over steam, VNs as well as some others contribute highly to that.

The thing with anime is that the characters are more cartoony than life looking so I am sure thats why people always call obssessed anime lovers weeboos and pedos. People can do what they want but they should really keep it to themselves or in groups/private spaces.

I don't really mind them all that much, since I know what I'm looking for when I go looking for games and I know how to find it. If there is someone out there who wants to buy those games then I'm not going to deny them that privilege.
