+1 but it's unlikely, since china has a serious piracy problem and this game is chinese. They might theoretically release a patch for other countries but I wouldn't get your hopes up, at least not for the forseeable future.

Steam has already its own DRM, no need of always online check.

Well, it simply dosent work well. After the online drm was removed for Gujian 2, the cracked version appeared immediately on various Chinese websites.

Since Steam sells are regional I see why they can't sell it without always-online check outside China, if that's the reason...

There is hope, but if I were the developers, regardless of technical feasibility, I would avoid taking such a discriminating measure and risking infuriating the Chinese players, who constitute their biggest market.

Because they don't want anyone to crack their game? Regional or not, once it get crack it will spread every where.

Steam DRM is useless, so are the other DRM as time went by, the only one that work for 100% of the time is an Always-Onl DRM as long as they keep the server alive.

Wrong. In the past many online games have been cracked. This is annoying only potential users, that like me won't buy an online-only game. What a pity.

P.S.
Moreover, even if cracked the offline version for western countries, a game with regional checking can prevent it to run the crack in China... So it's a faulty reasoning.

Always-On drm does not work more than regular DRM. The SimCity always online drm was cracked around two weeks after its launch. If Gujian3 drm is not cracked yet, it's not because its online. (My guess would be the game is not famous enough for the scene to take interest in)

In addition... if someone in China doesn't want to pay for this game, be sure will play something else cracked or free. There's plenty of choice.
Excessive DRMs like always-online have always been a boomerang.
Most revenues are right after launch anyway, so let's hope that one day they'll remove this annoying DRM system. This game was released in 2018, so it's about time...

In the past as in 10 years ago during AC2 time?

Need For Speed
Diablo 3
Starcraft Remastered
SimCity (an exploits was discovered, not a crack, also you can't save)
The Crew 2

All the new games after that have never been cracked, so yes the DRM work.

How dumb are you if you think regionals checking can stop the crack from spreading, nowadays you can change your pc languages and regions, ip address, your current locations, all with a single mouse click.

LOL there's a long list of cracked games too but I usually do buy games so I won't list them here...

Are you really offending me for such a thing (I'll ignore you, this time)?
Of course you can crack and workaround or add a VPN etc. etc. etc. etc. but it's a minority fraction of desperate users who will accept these ANNOYING workarounds that:
1) may not work at all depending on the quality or regional check implemented by devs...
2) many users still won't use them because you can get banned easely
3) using cracked exe is the highway for malware and virus and this is sufficient to discourage many users
4) the dumb is you if you think people who don't want always online (because they can't be always online, or have a bad connection or whatever they want...) are so desperate and eager to play this game to do all of the risky things above instead of looking TO OTHER GAMES without a-o (hence: it's a boomerang always-online, once again, just like piracy. Something you seem not to understand)

Hundreds of successful games have no always online, even The Witcher 3 (it exists even a no DRM version for GOG, go figure!). When a game is good you don't need to bother and limit users with always online "to protect from piracy" 🤦🏻‍♂️ LOL You'll get the opposite and a big percentage simply won't buy the game just like a piracy damage.

Hope devs will be smarter then you and remove a-o any time soon, to sell much more in the western countries...

In China, many people play pirated games, including Chinese games and foreign games. Only the online mode can guarantee that they will not be cracked.

They translated the game in English too... did you notice? A-o will damage for sure sells outside China (where a-o may be convenient).
There are already 3+ threads of users complaining for a-o who said won't buy this game for that, it's not a single user rant, open your eyes... This game deserves more audience.

In the top ranking of the most hated copy protections I think above DENUVO there is only the always online DRM 😉

(sorry my English is poor)I know, a lot of bad reviews are for this reason, but in china, this is the best way,if for foreign sales change offline mode, the loss outweighs the gain, because chinese will surely crack it.
