As Ned Stark mentioned, if it's just the fact the unit is spotted and not identified, then you should look into how camouflage versus spotting works,
IIRC Spotting - Camouflage +1 = distance, then you can't see anything about that unit, but you might know they're there from radar
Spotting - Camouflage = Distance means you've seen them, but don't know details about them (IE how much strength, the damage of their modules, abilities, etc...)
Spotting - Camouflage -1 >= Distance then you know everything about them
Unfortunately, I cannot share a screenshot / video to illustrate it because I stopped playing the game a long while ago (because of some other annoying bugs and performance issues).
But given the date of the original post, I assume the devs don't care about it and would probably never fix it anyway.
But your replies and explanations are nonetheless appreciated of course.
It's entirely possible to have a unit next to you and not see their details in, for example, night + rain. That means your unit technically only knows they're there because of radar or being shot at, but can't physically identify them in anyway with their current capabilities.
